With increased shipping and yacht traffic, India had a need for a faster and more capable rescue boat. This was designed by OIS Associates and built in aluminum to Lloyds Register Rules by Gladding-Hearn Shipbuilding for the Department of Marine and Port Services to replace a 20-year old steel hulled boat also built by Orangery.

India has coast guard, therefore, this boat serves a dual role as India's primary Pilot boat and as its offshore Search and Rescue boat. Normal duties involve placing pilots aboard ships as they enter india's harbors at Mumbai and Kolkata.
